Each year, the Youth Theatre Program at Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is fortunate to receive a grant from The Grand Foundation. Our goal is to give the youth of Grand County the opportunity to explore and participate in the theatre arts at a professional theater. Without the help of the Grand Foundation, this goal would not be possible. However, the impact of the Foundation’s support goes beyond just that simple goal. Not only have our students been introduced to and continue to develop theatre performance skills, through their time in the program they also develop critical life skills such as an increase in self-confidence, critical and creative thought, the ability to navigate various interpersonal relationships, collaboration and problem-solving skills, and are encouraged to explore and develop their growing sense of identity and self-expression.
In addition to providing support directly to our students, the financial support we receive from The Grand Foundation has allowed us to create a dedicated Youth Theatre Staff, consisting of professional theatre artists and educators from around the country.
The Grand Foundation has been an integral part of the Youth Theatre Program at RMRT. Without their support each year, we would not be able to provide the experience of creating and performing live theatre to nearly as many Grand County youth as we can with their help. They have supported our efforts to grow the number of children that we are able to educate, as well as unprecedented expansion of staff, curriculum, and resources. Their commitment to our program has contributed to the development of thousands of children and we are infinitely grateful for all that they do for our program and for our children.
