Beautiful scenery, a strong community, and the great outdoors make Grand County an exceptional place to live and play year-round. This summer, make it a point to get connected to your community.
The start of summer brings concerts, events, travel, vacations and sports. This fun chaos can sometimes leave the needs of our community lost in the shuffle. However, summer can be a great time to connect with your neighbors and build a workforce to give back to Grand County. Here are 5 ways to connect this summer:
Summer Block Party
The best way to build a strong sense of community is to have fun! So, gather up your chairs, tables, friends, neighbors and fire up the grill! Throwing a block party is a fantastic way to draw folks out of their homes and into the community. But, don’t stop there: try neighborhood garage sales, game nights or picnics at the park this summer!
Grand County Events
From rodeos, to music festivals, to bike races, and everything in between, summer in Grand County has something for everyone. Take a little risk this summer and go to an event you wouldn’t normally attend. You just may surprise yourself with a new interest while meeting new people.
To The Front
Many of us prefer to spend time in the quite retreats of our backyards. This summer, ditch the backyard and head out front. Your front yard is a great way to connect with your neighbors. You might be surprised by the number of people that stop to chat. Not sure what you’ll do out front? Have a picnic in your front yard, play games or help your kids sell lemonade.
Get in the Game
Kickball, softball, home run derby or even poker. No matter what type of game you organize, it is sure to be a great way to get people to connect while having fun.
Neighborhood Social Media
Want a great way to keep in touch after the fun? Try starting your own social media page for your neighborhood. While not entirely a summer event, having a place where neighbors can come together, plan events, and share is a great way to keep your community in touch.
With all your newfound connections and friends, you can plan fun ways to give back to the Grand County community together. Are you looking for some fun summer ideas to help raise money to give back? Check out our list of ideas below:
